I’m not sure where to begin. This decade, the majority of my adult life, has shaped me like no other and esports was definitely the one thing that had the largest impact. It took me so many places, physically and emotionally, it gave me travels around the globe and forged friendships I will cherish forever. It made me quit my boring marketing job in favour of a full time photography career. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It created memories that will last forever.
It also showed me how important photographs are. Out of all the amazing people I’ve met, only a fraction are featured in these photos, but I’m glad they exist, both for me and others. Two out of these amazing people are no longer with us, people that made a big impact on me and my career. Geoff and John, we will never forget you or what you did for this industry we call home.
This is a small selection of my complete esports portfolio from 2011 to 2019. The images are mostly shot working for DreamHack, ESL, Blizzard and Riot, all four of which I’d like to sincerely thank for taking me in and giving me a shot during my rookie years. The images represent events on five continents, with players from over twenty game titles. It’s by no means a complete history, but it’s my contribution to the phenomenon that esports has become in the past nine years (and yes, I totally should’ve realised this dream one year earlier so it would be a complete decade).
